Weighted Blankets
Dementia related sleep disturbances are
a problem for those diagnosed with dementia. It is recommended that non
pharmacological interventions should be the first
line of treatment. Weighted blankets have been shown to assist in the sleep patterns of individuals with disrupted sleep. There is research currently being performed by Flinders University to provide guidelines in the use of weighted blankets by someone with dementia.
